Update on improvements to Warminster Community Hospital
Refurbishment works at Warminster Community Hospital are well underway and on schedule to be completed in October 2022. The planned works are part of a major investment from NHS Property Services (NHS PS) who own the site. The project will mean significant improvements for patients, staff and visitors to the hospital, including the relocation of Longleat Ward to the ground floor creating improved accommodation and a more suitable first floor working environment for the community nursing team.
The first phase of the works is due to be complete by the end of March. This phase has been mainly enabling works, such as moving IT infrastructure and the creation of a new clinic room which is co-located with other patient services. The focus of this work has taken place around the two courtyard areas, shown on the right hand side of the aerial photograph (pictured).
Wiltshire Health and Care’s Director of Infrastructure, Victoria Hamilton said: “We are excited to be working with NHS PS on this project and to have the opportunity to use the hospital space we occupy more creatively and effectively. The improved accommodation and facilities will really benefit the wellbeing of both patients and staff. The next phase of works will mean that the new layout really starts to take shape and we look forward to sharing progress over the next few months.”
Phase two starts in April. The majority of these works will take place on the ground floor of the hospital to create the new ward space – this includes the provision of new bathrooms and the creation of new bedrooms and day spaces. This will involve some structural alterations to the building and we are working with the contractors to minimise disruption and noise. During this phase Longleat Ward will temporarily relocate to St Martin’s Hospital in Bath over the summer months.
