Volunteers make a big difference!
We are grateful to our team of volunteers for their invaluable support to both our staff and patients.
Volunteering with WHC is a rewarding experience. It’s a great way to meet new friends and of course, make a difference to a patient’s healthcare journey.
We are always seeking volunteers with a variety of skills to support various wards, departments and areas within our community hospitals across Wiltshire. We have a variety of placement opportunities available between 7.15am – 7.30pm, 7 days a week.
Volunteers need to be at least 16-years-old (no upper age limit) and be able to commit to 2-3 hours volunteering a week for a minimum period of six months. There may be circumstances where adjustments can be made to ensure volunteer recruitment meets the requirements of protected groups described in the Equality Act 2010.
Are you interested in volunteering?
You will need to complete and submit the application form telling us about your skills and reasons for wanting to volunteer. Every volunteer brings something special and unique and we look forward to hearing from you.
So where does the volunteer fit in?
Volunteers support the staff by undertaking simple activities and tasks on the wards or within hospital teams.
Other roles can mean a patient has someone who has time to sit with them and provide them with some company, especially those patients who have few visitors.
Supporting an administrative team with the work they do is just as vital and rewarding as working in a clinical area.
As a volunteer you will learn about the hospital and what it does and they can pass that learning on to friends, family and neighbours, often resulting them to want to join our team.
