Radio presenter reminisces with patients

A presenter from BBC Wiltshire Radio joined in with a reminiscence therapy session held at Warminster Community Hospital recently.

Emily Leahy chatted to patients, volunteers and staff who gathered in the day room on Longleat Ward for a lively discussion prompted by old photographs of Warminster and past entertainers and by listening to big band music.

Wiltshire Health and Care Activities Coordinator Charlotte Aldridge said: “These sessions are really popular and usually half the ward will attend.

“This type of therapy can be helpful for dementia patients; it can help them build a life story digitally that can then go with them if they transfer.”

Reminiscence therapy is just one of the many diverse therapeutic activities that take place daily on the ward.

Thanks to Friends of Warminster Hospital for their support in providing the RITA reminiscence software and the installation of patient wifi.
