New shop trolley donated to Warminster Community Hospital

Patients and visitors to Warminster Community Hospital will receive an improved trolley shop service thanks to a kind donation from Warminster Hospital Cup, a charity that raises money for Warminster Hospital and Warminster Surgery. The new shop trolley has improved shelving to display even more products and magazines, a secure cash box and is easier to manoeuvre.

The trolley shop operates every weekday morning thanks to a team of 12 volunteers.  It provides a non-profit making service to patients, visitors and staff offering toiletries, cards, magazines and confectionery; catering for individual requests such as gluten free or diabetic items.  A visit by our trolley shop volunteers is often an icebreaker to a conversation with a patient, contributing to them experiencing a comfortable stay and good service on our wards.

Voluntary Services Coordinator Suzanne Bennett said: “Not only does the trolley shop provide an important service, the volunteers get to spend time with patients chatting and listening to them on the ward.  We are very grateful for their support and to Warminster Hospital Cup and their Treasurer Stephen Kervell who spent time painstakingly researching a trolley that was fit for purpose.”

Could you spare some time to join our team of volunteers?

Do you have a couple of hours to spare each week to help contribute to the wellbeing of our patients and ensure their hospital stay is as comfortable as possible?

We have a mutually beneficial and flexible partnership with our volunteers who feedback to us that their experience is happy and rewarding.

Wiltshire Health and Care is looking for volunteers to join the friendly trolley shop team covering the Monday morning shift (10:00 – 12:00 hrs) and general volunteers for other times during the week.

If you are interested in being part of our team please contact Suzanne Bennett, Voluntary Services Coordinator on 01985 220779.
