Warminster Community Hospital to get major refurbishment

A major investment from site owners NHS Property Services (NHS PS) will bring significant improvements for patients and staff at Warminster Community Hospital.

NHS PS are funding and leading on an extensive improvement project, but working closely with Wiltshire Health and Care who run the majority of NHS community services from the site.

This long term investment in the hospital will mean improved en-suite accommodation, better therapy space and outside access for inpatients, an improved and safer working environment for staff and an upgraded base for the community team.

The wellbeing of patients and staff is a priority and NHS PS and Wiltshire Health and Care are doing an extensive piece of work to ensure that everyone is looked after and fully supported throughout the project.

The first phase of the works starts in January, but careful preparation has already begun. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of inpatients and staff when second phase structural alterations are made, Longleat Ward will temporarily relocate to St Martin’s Hospital in Bath from April 2022 until October 2022.

James Wakeham, Principal Construction Manager (South West England) from NHS Property Services said: “Both NHS Property Services and Wiltshire Health and Care consider this significant investment in Warminster Community Hospital will provide more pleasant and dignified environments for patients to receive care in, alongside delivering a facility that enables the hospital’s clinical staff to deliver excellent patient care.”

Victoria Hamilton, Director of Infrastructure at Wiltshire Health and Care said: “We are delighted to be working with NHS PS on this project, which will benefit patients and staff for many years to come.”

Richard Crow, Chair of the Friends of Warminster Hospital said: “The Friends are delighted by the news of the improvements to Warminster Hospital and by the long-term commitment the investment provides. The Friends look forward to working closely with the people of Warminster, hospital staff and patients to contribute to the project in ways that provide direct benefit to the patients and staff.”

The works are due to be completed in October 2022.
