Celebrating our Allied Health Professionals
The second annual Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHP) Day is on Monday 14 October 2019.
Many of our workforce are AHPs:
Podiatrists, Dieticians, Occupational Therapists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Orthotists, Speech and Language Therapists.
And, the care we deliver in our Minor Injury Units and Orthopaedic Interface Service would be so much more difficult without our AHPs.
AHPs are now the third largest healthcare workforce with significant opportunities to support delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan. We currently have 352 AHPs and this year alone we have seen numerous service developments that have been achieved through their hard work and dedication:
- MSK services
- Physiotherapists working in MIUs
- First Contact Physiotherapists working in primary care
- HomeFirst
- The opening of Chestnut Unit; the Therapy led unit at Savernake Community Hospital
- More diabetes programs being held with the support of our dietetic and podiatry teams
Thank you to our AHPs and all our staff for their continued hard work supporting people across Wiltshire to live healthy, independent lives.
