FAQs

Can I bring my children?

We do not provide crèche facilities and are not able to take responsibility for accompanying children attending the premises, unless properly supervised. Some areas contain equipment which is intended for clinical use only and should not be used as play areas. Therefore, it is preferable you do not bring you children if possible.

I live in Trowbridge but work in Chippenham, is it possible to have my treatment in Chippenham?

Yes, you can attend any physiotherapy department managed by the Trust if you live in Wiltshire and are registered with a Wiltshire GP. See our contact us page for details.

What age can children come for treatment on their own?

Legally children can come for treatment on their own if they are over 16 but can attend from the age of 14 if the parent thinks their child is responsible enough. From our point of view it is very useful to have a parent/guardian there to help contribute any long term history. They can also help to remember all that will be discussed and be able to encourage, remind and motivate the child to do what had been agreed when they are at home.

Can I bring a relative in with me?

If you give permission for them to be present that is OK.

Can I be seen at home?

The domiciliary physiotherapy service is provided through the Community Teams for people who are housebound and need to be contacted via Access to Care.

We are unable to provide transport to appointments. Wiltshire Link is a local voluntary service who may be able to help you get to your appointment. Please follow this link to view their website http://www.wiltshirelink.org.uk/

What if a don’t speak English well?

It is best to bring a relative or friend who is able to translate. If this is not possible the physiotherapist may have to use a phone based interpreter service. Please make it clear that you may need a interpreter before your appointment.
