Ella’s trail for Pulmonary Fibrosis

Our Respiratory Clinical Lead, Ella Purvis has raised a staggering £1467.80 for Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, by completing a sponsored walk (117km over 6 days from Sarria to Santiago de Compostella along the Camino Trail in northern Spain) and holding a cake sale.

Ella said: ” A big thank you to  my colleagues in the Respiratory Team for all their support and to everyone who donated so generously and supported the cake sale.

“The walk was a great experience and I met an amazing array of people. Some had walked for over 30 days and planned to complete 500 miles!

“I went prepared to deal with all sorts of feet dramas but was surprised to not even get a blister. The hardest part of the 6 days was watching my husband marching up the hills while I plodded slowly behind! It was a great feeling to get to the top.
I thought that it would be miserable walking in wet weather but the company of other walkers helped us to forget the weather and the miles just disappeared.

“The best part was the company of other walkers from all over the world all heading for the same destination and seeing many of them again at the end of the walk, in Santiago de Compostella. It was life affirming.”

Ella is already planning another walk and hopes to get even more fundraising support.

Congratulations Ella we’re really proud of your achievements.
